Biography

Professor Kate Williams is an author, renowned historian and television presenter. She has written 12 books including 'England's Mistress', 'Becoming Queen', 'Josephine: Desire, Ambition, Napoleon', 'Young Elizabeth: The Making of Our Queen.'

Williams was the social historian on the BBC Two series Restoration Home. She presented Timewatch: Young Victoria for BBC Two and The Secret History of Edward VII for Channel Five. She has appeared on television to discuss history, literature and culture, including Faulks on Fiction and The Great British Bake Off, as well as documentaries on subjects including Queen Victoria, Balmoral, Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper, Nelson’s Trafalgar and Hidden Killers of the Victorian Home.In August 2023, Williams appeared in Elizabeth II: Making of a Monarch on  Channel 4. Williams has lectured MA degree studies in Creative Writing at Royal Holloway, University of London.
