Our Commitment

Woodhill Park is committed to supporting our community and protecting the environment. To achieve these goals, we are collaborating with the following local charities and companies.

Stage Five Theatre

Theatre, drama, Shakespeare workshops, talks and Summer Schools.

Stage Five Theatre was formed by Pam Johnson to stage compelling theatre in interesting venues. An ensemble for each production is drawn from local actors and age is no barrier to performing. Shakespeare is top of the list but any great script is considered. Pam lives very close to Woodhill and is looking forward to staging productions there.

Michael Corbidge, patron of Stage Five Theatre, is a Royal Shakespeare Company Senior Voice and Text Associate. Michael works around the world with professional companies, community groups and in the corporate world.

Pam and Michael met on the RSC Open Stages programme ten years ago and work together to create great theatre along with a number of directors, actors and writers who have worked at The RSC and the Globe.

Horatio's Garden

Horatio’s Garden Midlands was planted by Bunny Guinness in 2019, doing vital work to nurture wellbeing after spinal injury.

Horatio Chapple was excited about his plans to study medicine and really enjoyed volunteering at Salisbury spinal centre in his school holidays. It was his patient research that established the need for a beautiful garden to be created.

Tragically, Horatio did not live to see the garden grow. At the age of 17, while on a science trip with The British Exploring Society to Svalbard, he was killed when a polar bear attacked his camp. He acted with unfaltering courage and lost his life yet bided time for his friends to escape.

There followed an outpouring of love and goodwill with donations flooding in for his gardens to be created around the country. However our local garden costs £90,000 a year to maintain so we are very keen to support the work there.

The Garden and Parkland
We are consulting with Shropshire Wildlife Trust to improve biodiversity on the estate. Rosie Ann Evans, a specialist on apiculture, will be helping us bring bees to Woodhill Park and Tom Adams, The Apple Man (an expert in rare and heritage varieties of apple, pear, cherry, quince, plum and medlar trees), will be involved in the orchard project at the organic estate.
In line with our biodiversity goals Woodhill Park Estate is also launching a habitat restoration project, not only aiming to establish new orchards but also to restore our historic walled garden.
